How CARES Act Will Affect Unemployed Hoosiers

NDIANAPOLIS)  – To date, no states have begun issuing the additional $600 unemployment insurance benefits under the CARES Act, as states await further instructions from the U.S. Department of Labor.

In Indiana, the benefit will be retroactive to March 29, 2020, for qualifying Hoosiers impacted by COVID-19.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, as with other states, continues to await guidance from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to implement the additional weekly unemployment insurance benefit under the CARES Act.

As of Friday evening, the U.S. Department of Labor has not issued guidance on payments under the CARES Act.

Indiana DWD officials anticipate guidance from the U.S. DOL in the coming days and will act quickly to begin implementation.
